Sen. McConnell Names David Parrish To New Board Created To Protect Small Business From Costly Regs July 7, 2004
Charleston, SC - David Parrish, an attorney in Nexsen Pruet's Charleston, SC office, has been named to the Small Business Regulatory Review Committee, a new statewide watchdog commission under the S.C. Department of Commerce, designed to protect small businesses from the negative impact of overly-burdensome regulations.
The 11-member panel was created by the Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Act that Governor Mark Sanford signed into law earlier this year. Under the new statutory framework, any state agency proposing a regulation that has a significant impact on small businesses must first submit it to the Committee for review. In turn, the Committee will determine if the regulation poses an inordinate burden on small businesses. If so, the Committee can undertake steps to have the proposed regulations altered or withdrawn. The Committee will also have the ability to review existing regulations and petition state agencies to amend, revise, or repeal regulations that pose an inordinate burden on small businesses.
David Parrish was appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the South Carolina Senate, Glenn F. McConnell, R-Charleston.
"We have a long and productive history in the public policy arena," said Al Pollard, Managing Partner of Nexsen Pruet, "and David's appointment continues that tradition. It also brings together two of this firm's absolute strengths: Our commitment to helping shape a better economic climate in South Carolina, and our commitment to serving businesses throughout the state."
Parrish practices in the areas of business litigation and construction law. He earned his undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of South Carolina and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
