Marguerite Willis Elected To SC Women Lawyers Association Board

COLUMBIA, SC - Marguerite S. Willis, a Member of Nexsen Pruet, LLC, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA).

The SCWLA installed Willis along with ten other new board members on the 25-member board during a ceremony on Saturday, January 28th in Charleston, SC.

Willis is a litigator who concentrates her practice in antitrust and complex litigation matters. She is admitted to practice In South Carolina, Florida, North Carolina and the District of Columbia.  She is a graduate of Stetson University College of Law and the University of Michigan.

"Marguerite is an exceptional advocate for women lawyers," said Leighton Lord, Board Chairman of Nexsen Pruet. "She has practiced law at a national level and brings a wealth of experience to our firm and to the SCWLA."

Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet in 2000, Willis was a Partner in the law firm of Howrey Simon Arnold & White in Washington, DC.  She is a past President of the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia and a past Governor of The Florida Bar.

Willis is a member of Nexsen Pruet's Board of Directors. She is also a director of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and a Trustee of Columbia College. In addition, Willis serves numerous organizations in Florence, SC, where her husband, Frank, serves as Mayor.

The 700-member SCWLA works to "enhance the status, influence and effectiveness of women lawyers in the State of South Carolina."
