Jonathan Yates Joins Nexsen Pruet; Expands Real Estate and Telecommunications Practice Charleston, SC January 5, 2006
Jonathan L. Yates has joined Nexsen Pruet, LLC as a member in the firm's Charleston office, where he will focus his practice on telecommunications and land use law.
Yates' background in the telecommunications industry includes matters related to placing wireless networks in multiple states. In his land-use practice, he has assisted in the permitting of large multi-use commercial developments and has appeared extensively before county planning commissions and councils in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Coastal Georgia.
"I've always had a good working relationship with Nexsen Pruet when I practiced elsewhere. And over the past several years I've watched this firm grow and expand throughout the Carolinas," said Yates. "I am very pleased to be a part of this legal team."
Yates earned his undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Previously, Yates was of counsel with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in Charleston.
"Jonathan brings a broad-based set of skills and experience to our firm," said Leighton Lord, chairman of the board of Nexsen Pruet. "His work covers a variety of issues in both of his practice areas, and he will help expand the services we provide to our clients."
Yates is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Planning Association, the Charleston County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association. Additionally, he has lectured on environmental issues as part of the Continuing Engineering Education Program at Clemson University’s College of Engineering.
