Experienced Construction Lawyer Joins Nexsen Pruet

John B. “Jack” Taylor has joined the Charlotte office of Nexsen Pruet as senior counsel and will practice with the firm’s construction group.

Taylor has extensive experience in all areas of construction law, including arbitration and mediation. Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, he was a partner with Taylor, Rash & Riemann.

Throughout his career, Taylor has worked on a number of large, complex projects. He served as North Carolina counsel for a contractor regarding its bid to build four correctional institutions for the state, and on the ensuing dispute regarding compliance with laws and licensing requirements. Additionally, he was counsel for contractors and subcontractors in connection with several multimillion-dollar highway claims against the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

He has authored or co-authored publications that include North Carolina Construction Law, NC Law for Design Professionals, Construction Management/Design-Build in North Carolina, Construction Law for Attorneys in North Carolina, Handbook of North Carolina Construction Law and North Carolina Highway Claims.

Taylor earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. He also served in the U.S. Army as a captain in the field artillery division.

His honors and awards include earning an AV rating for highest professional conduct, as well as being named to Who’s Who in Construction Law, Top Attorneys in Charlotte in Construction Law, Best Lawyers in America in Construction Law, Legal Elite in Construction Law by Business North Carolina Magazine, and a North Carolina Super Lawyer.

He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association, Mecklenburg County Bar Association, and the Carolinas AGC. He is also on the American Arbitration Association – Arbitrator Panel and Construction Advisory Council; the board of directors of the N.C. Engineering Foundation; and the N.C. State University Engineering School Dean’s Cabinet.
