Ron Cox is an experienced litigator who concentrates his practice on complex litigation.  Ron has broad litigation experience, with primary emphasis in the areas of products liability, mass torts, class actions, commercial, and construction litigation.

Ron represents defendants in asbestos litigation.  Ron has served as a member of a team of attorneys that coordinated the defense of thousands of asbestos claims against several manufacturers of building products in over thirty states.  He serves as local counsel in South Carolina in the defense of several product manufacturers in asbestos litigation.  Ron also represents companies in other types of toxic tort litigation including claims alleging exposure to substances such as silica, benzene, and other chemicals.  He has represented pharmaceutical manufactures in Fen-Phen diet drug litigation and a manufacturer of latex gloves in latex allergy multi-district litigation.

In addition to his experience in defending mass torts, Ron has experience in representing clients in other types of products liability cases.  Ron has represented clients in products liability cases involving products such as electrical devices, aerosol cans, automobile tires, and other automotive components. 

Ron also represents plaintiffs and defendants in class action litigation.  Ron served as class counsel representing residents of a rural community in a certified class action related to emissions from a factory.  He has defended proposed class actions related to building products and asbestos containing products.

Ron represents owners, contractors, sureties, and building material manufacturers in construction litigation involving construction defects, product warranty claims, or payment disputes.  His other practice areas include business torts, unfair trade practice claims, and contract disputes.  Ron has also successfully represented plaintiffs in catastrophic injury or wrongful death claims arising from automobile accidents or product defects.

Ron earned his Business Administration degree from The University of South Carolina at Aiken where he was named Outstand Student of Finance and graduated magna cum laude.  He earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law from which he graduated cum laude and where he was a member of the Order of Wig and Robe, Order of the Coif, and the South Carolina Law Review.

  • Served as member of national coordinating counsel team that managed the defense of thousands of asbestos suits in multiple jurisdictions throughout the United States.
  • Disqualified plaintiff’s expert pursuant to Daubert challenge and obtained summary judgment for manufacturer in product liability claim.
  • Served as class counsel in certified class action resulting in millions of dollars in compensation and injunctive relief of behalf of residents adversely affected by factory emissions.
  • Represented three pharmaceutical manufacturers in multiple Fen-Phen diet drug lawsuits.
  • Co-lead counsel in multiples lawsuits representing two children whose parents and four siblings were simultaneously killed in vehicle collision.
  • Represented surety in primary and secondary litigation related to allegedly defective construction of high rise condominium building.
