Jimmy Long is a member in the business and commercial litigation practice group with experience handling litigation cases in all Courts in South Carolina. His emphasis is representing businesses regulated by the state and federal government which includes health care clients in Certificate of Need litigation and defending long term care facilities in serious injury and wrongful death cases.
Mr. Long also handles trucking and transportation litigation in both the trial and appellate court which includes defending catastrophic loss and fatality claims.
Mr. Long received a B.S. degree in business administration from Presbyterian College. He received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe and managing Editor of the ABA Real Property Probate and Trust Journal.
Mr. Long is a frequent speaker at legal education seminars. He has an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell.

Mr. Long was the lead trial attorney in the longest trial in the history of the South Carolina Administrative Law Court in February and March of 2006. See the opinion here
Mr. Long has been the lead trial attorney in certificate of need cases involving open heart surgery, linear accelerators, hospital replacement or expansion, ambulatory surgery centers, cyberknife technology, and methadone treatment facilities.
Mr. Long is currently the lead attorney in a multiple fatality trucking case pending in South Carolina.
Mr. Long argued and briefed in the South Carolina Supreme Court the case that addressed whether physical therapists may continue to be employed by referring physicians. (i.e. whether POPTS are legal in South Carolina). See the opinion here
Mr. Long led a team of attorneys in negotiating the resolution of a multi million dollar domestic case.
Mr. Long successfully tried a negligent misrepresentation case involving the partition of a real estate tract at the South Carolina coast.
Mr. Long successfully resolved, after 15 hours of mediation, the defense of a negligent misrepresentation case arising from the multi-million dollar sale of a business.
Mr. Long was the lead attorney in a complex probate matter that involved simultaneous actions in the Probate Court, Circuit Court and the Court of Appeals.
Mr. Long typically tries cases each year in either the Administrative Law Court, Circuit Court, or Family Court.
